Modern B2B buyers, procurement officers, and project managers are increasingly shifting their preliminary vendor research directly to AI engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot, and Grok. Rather than relying solely on traditional search methods, decision-makers feed granular technical stipulations—down to certifications, exact tolerances, and minimum order quantities—into AI agents to generate vetted vendor shortlists. For B2B companies managing high-ticket contract values, securing consistent AI visibility requires a multi-platform distribution strategy. Relying on a single website or engine leaves your lead pipeline vulnerable when buyer usage shifts between platforms. Effective generative engine optimization demands publishing verified, expert-driven answers across your site, video channels, transcriptions, and industry directories. When LLMs cross-reference and corroborate exact product capabilities and real-world case studies across multiple sources, your brand positions itself at the top of AI-generated buyer recommendations.
How Procurement Managers Use AI Agents for Deep Vendor Research
Stephen: And so what we're finding is that a lot of these a lot of these procurement managers, these engineers, these project managers, these, executives who are looking for new manufacturers or b to b partners or vendors, they are utilizing it by putting in some very specific stipulations, having an AI agent or an LLM go out and do the research for them, and then doing the really important, deep work of researching each one of those top recommendations individually and making sure that they are up to snuff and that there's a best a best option within those short. That shortlist. And so another interesting statistic that I believe was put out by Yext just a few months ago was that, people who are highly educated and are high earners, essentially, professionals, are using AI search almost all the time. And I'm not talking like a small majority, like a 60%.
Stephen: It's it's north of 80 to 90% most likely. And that's because a lot of those high earners who are well educated, know that a good tool can save them time and make their job better and make the. Make them have better results at their job. And so, they're oftentimes the earlier adopters of technology, and those are the people who are buying your product. If that's where the buyers are going, that's where you as the seller should be showing up. And if you're not showing up in that shortlist, you're not you're not being considered in the options of where they can get a new manufacturer or a new b to b vendor or partner.
Logan: So the next question that we have is how does a contract manufacturer get recommended when a buyer asks AI to find them a new supplier?
Stephen: This is a great question, and it goes back to a lot of the answers that we already talked about. People are asking very, very specific things to an AI agent to get them started with their research, and they're asking things they would never ask Google. They're being much more specific. They're saying, I need a widget that can be manufactured in this timeline within this type of, this size of an MOQ within plus or minus one or two thousands of an inch with these types of materials, and they need to meet these specific certifications and specifications. And I need you to find me five different options of suppliers that can offer me that, part.
And those specifications are going to be taken seriously from, an AI agent or an LLM. When your b to b customer is looking for a new supplier and they're getting insanely specific in terms of the down to the thousandth of the inch that they need the clearances, down to the exact materials, down to the exact MOQs and certifications and specifications, and they give that to an LLM or an AI agent, that AI agent is going to try and find something that is the closest match to that.
Stephen: And so if you're able to answer the questions that they're asking in a way that is very specific and speaks to your expertise in the field, you will get recommended by AI search. And I can say that as a matter of fact because we have done that for our clients. It's about getting specific and sharing real examples and giving real data, real case studies, real experiences., sometimes when things went wrong, why they went wrong, how you fix them, how you make sure that things don't go wrong. It wants to see all of that because it doesn't just wanna see that you answered the question. It doesn't just want., the analogy that I give is it doesn't just want a really nice looking fruit and to deliver that fruit to the user. It wants the whole tree to be healthy and then to say, hey.
Stephen: Here's this tree. Go get a fruit from that tree. And you're not just trying to create a good product offering. This isn't just an advertisement. You're trying to create a holistic view of your company that tells AI search and AI agents that you're a trustworthy company that has that specific product offering and that does it well and has experience and examples to prove it.
Logan: Getting specific and answering the exact questions that people are asking, saying the exact details and experiences that you've had with that and what your offering is and what your abilities are within that type of manufacturing or supplying, and then making sure that is put out in multiple places on the Internet, not just on your website, but, on your website, on YouTube, on Instagram, on other directories, etcetera, etcetera so that, let's say, Claude or ChatGeBT or Gemini can search for that exact specification that somebody's looking for, find it on your website, find the examples you've given, and then go and find it that it's verified on a YouTube video that you put out as well a month ago, a, an Instagram video that it's grabbing the transcription from that you've also said the same exact thing on and maybe even other sources online.
Logan: You're creating this web of trust that you're able to prove to these AI search engines, these AI agencies, LLMs that you are a trustworthy source.
Again, that's something that we've proven to work time and time again. Moving on to the next question. Why is AI search starting to replace Google for b to b buyers?
Stephen: It goes back to who the actual customer is and the pressure that they're under and their desire to do a better, more efficient job. And that means that you're talking about procurement managers and departments. You're talking about project managers. You're talking about engineers. They don't wanna spend all of their time researching and looking at all the bad options. They wanna spend their time looking at only the best options. They're asking AI search and LLMs to go out and find them the best options. 94% of businesses now, and this is from Gorilla seventy six, 94% of business buyers, use AI in their buying process. That's a massive amount. There's a lot of other companies that are citing very similar numbers as well, But that's twice as many as.
Stephen: That's over twice as many as last year. Another aspect of this is trust. People statistically trust AI search significantly more than they trust regular search or even recommendations from word-of-mouth. It's a huge thing that I hear from manufacturers all the time that our company has been running for the past hundred years on word-of-mouth, and that's totally understandable. However, what it used to be is that you could run ads, you could do marketing, you could do things like that, and people wouldn't necessarily trust it as much as word-of-mouth. However, it was at least something that you could do to, put a little bit of juice into the business. However, that's shifting. It's not just that the marketing aspects aren't as good as word-of-mouth, but at least there's something.
Why Multi-Platform Publishing Drives Generative Engine Optimization
Stephen: Now people are trusting AI search more than word-of-mouth, and that's from the Better Business Bureau. That's not from, any unreliable source. The Better Business Bureau is saying that the vast majority, over 60 of people, and this is months ago, it's only growing from there, are trusting AI search more than a recommendation from a close friend. It's it's an interesting world that we're living in, but if you wanna sell to your customers, you've gotta go where they're trusting, and they're trusting AI search more than really any other platform or area that they could be getting any recommendation from. Another interesting point to bring up with this about if companies are using AI search in their research process to find a new b to b supplier or manufacturer is that even if people don't decide to use AI search, they're likely going to be using Google because it's the largest search engine for anyone in America and in the world.
Stephen: However, even if you're just using regular Google for search and you're searching anything specific or buyer intent, then you have an AI overview showing up at the top of those search results that is AI search.
When an AI overview pops up, people are. Again, the statistics were over 60% likely to click on the AI search AI overview than they were to scroll, and that was months ago. And, again, it's only growing from there. Even if somebody decides not to use AI search for their research and they use Google, they're still using AI search majority of the time. The last thing that I wanna say about this is that AI creates shortlist of recommendations. And in regards to some of our clients who are properly utilizing, AI search optimization through us, they're not just on the shortlist.
Protecting Your Lead Pipeline Across Shifting AI Engines
Stephen: In some cases, we're finding that they're the literal only recommendation. And we know that there are competitors out there because when you Google it, you can find the competitors. But when you ask ChatGPT or Claude, the only one it's recommending are our clients, which is something we're, again, very proud of. Moving on to the next question, how long does it take for a b to b company to start showing up in AI Answers and AI Search?

Frequently Asked Questions
How do procurement managers use AI search engines to find specialized B2B vendors?
Procurement managers and engineers input hyper-specific requirements into LLMs, detailing exact material specifications, tolerances, certifications, and delivery terms. The AI agent acts as an automated researcher, scanning the web for companies meeting those precise criteria and compiling a targeted shortlist. Executives then perform deep-dive verification on those specific top recommendations before reaching out to sales teams.
Which AI engines should B2B companies target for AI search optimization?
B2B organizations should optimize across all major language models, including ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok. Because buyer preferences fluctuate and niche tools often integrate specific engines, relying on optimization for a single model leaves your lead generation vulnerable if user traffic shifts to a competing platform.
How does cross-platform publishing improve generative engine optimization?
LLMs evaluate authority by cross-referencing information across multiple credible sources on the web. When an AI agent finds your technical specifications on your main website and subsequently corroborates that data via YouTube video transcripts, social posts, and directory listings, its confidence in your expertise increases, dramatically raising your chances of being cited in buyer recommendations.
What content structure maximizes citations for AI engine optimization?
High-performing pages lead with direct, concise question-and-answer summaries in headlines and top-of-page sections. Below the concise answer, provide detailed technical context, documented real-world case studies, and specific operational capabilities. This structure allows AI engines to parse the direct answer quickly while using the surrounding technical proof to validate your company's actual authority.
Why are high-ticket B2B sales increasingly dependent on AI visibility?
For contracts valued at tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, decision-makers use AI agents to save dozens of research hours by instantly filtering out non-qualifying suppliers. B2B brands reporting that nearly all recent leads originate from AI search are those that have explicitly documented their niche capabilities online, allowing generative engines to match them directly to detailed buyer prompts.
